Celebrating 4th July on Hawaii’s Big Island


If you’re vacationing on the main island this Independence Day, we’ve pulled together a list of exciting events so you don’t miss out on any of the island celebrations.

Parker Ranch Rodeo and Horse Races

Cowboys on horses

Parker Ranch Rodeo Arena, Waimea
7 am – noon

This 57th annual community event features Parker Ranch cowboys taking part in action-packed horseraces, rodeo, ribbon mugging, and more. Children under 12 receive free admission and can enjoy activities like roping practice, pony rides, and a petting zoo. Tickets can be purchased at the Parker Ranch Store and are $8 in advance or $10 at the gate.

Volcano Village Parade and Craft Fair

4th July parade

Cooper Center
8 am – 1 pm

Another annual 4th July celebration which features a grand parade starting from the Volcano Post Office and finishing at the Cooper Center, where you can enjoy food, entertainment, and activities. Bring the whole family, dogs included!

Hilo Bay Blast

Classic car show

Hilo Bayfront Soccer Field
10 am 

This free all-day event is fun for all the family. If you’re a car enthusiast, be sure to check out the classic car show from 10 am to 3 pm. Other activities include live entertainment, outdoor fun for the kids, food trucks, and a fireworks display at 8 pm.

Queens’ Marketplace 4th of July Family Celebration

Coronation Pavilion
2 pm – 9:30 pm

Round up the family and enjoy an afternoon of activities including live music and face painting before heading to Waikoloa Bowl for fireworks. Finish the night at the Coronation Pavilion for dancing under the stars.

Independence Day Parade and Fireworks Extravaganza


6 pm

Setting off from Kekua’okalani Gym, watch the Independence Day Parade make its way to Royal Kona Resort before admiring the fireworks over Kailua Bay (starts at 8 pm).
